Shelf scanning depends on a few things working together: good lighting, clear product labels, and having your list items entered with enough detail to match. Try adding a brand name in the "Brand" field when you edit an item — that significantly improves matching. Also make sure your phone is steady and about 2–3 feet from the shelf.
Free users get 3 AI Smart Add uses per calendar month. The counter resets on the 1st. Premium subscribers get unlimited access.
Open the Profile tab in the app and tap Manage Subscription. This opens your iPhone's subscription manager where you can cancel, switch plans, or see your next renewal date. Alternatively, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your phone.
Your subscription remains active until the end of the current paid period. After that, you'll revert to the free tier. Your data stays intact.
Monthly is an auto-renewing subscription at $4.99 per month — cancel any time. Lifetime is a one-time payment of $29.99 and unlocks premium features forever (as long as the app is available). Lifetime pays itself off in about six months.
Head to the Profile tab and tap Restore Purchases. This syncs your StoreKit entitlements with Apple. If that doesn't work, make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you used for the purchase. If it still doesn't work, email us.
Mostly — your shopping list, pantry, receipts, and shelf scanner all work without internet. The only feature that requires a connection is AI Smart Add, since it calls our backend to parse text.
Not yet. ShelfSeek currently stores all your data on your device only. Cross-device sync via iCloud is on the roadmap but not yet available. If this is critical for you, let us know — user demand helps us prioritize.
Almost none. Your lists and receipts live on your device. The only data that leaves your phone is the text you paste into AI Smart Add, which is processed (not stored) to extract items. No tracking, no analytics, no ads. See the Privacy Policy below for full details.
Try quitting the app fully (swipe up from the app switcher) and reopening. If the issue persists, restart your iPhone. Still broken? Email us with a description of what happened and what iPhone model you're using, and we'll dig in.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com within 14 days of purchase and Apple will process the request. We have no access to your payment info so we can't process refunds on our end.
Open the app's Profile tab and tap Clear Shopping History. This erases all shopping items, pantry records, and receipts from your device. Alternatively, deleting the app removes all data with it.

This is a small, one-person operation. Replies usually come within 1–2 business days, sometimes faster. You'll always hear from a real person, not a form response.

ShelfSeek is built with a simple principle: your shopping list is your business. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what we do (and don't do) with it.
ShelfSeek ("the app," "we," "us") is an iOS application developed by an independent developer. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at hello@shelfseek.app.
The following is stored locally on your iPhone and is never transmitted to our servers:
This data remains on your device. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. We cannot recover it — we never had it.
When you use the AI Smart Add feature, the text you paste (and only that text) is sent to our backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to extract shopping items. The response is returned to your device and added to your list.
We do not log or store the text you paste, or the results returned. The request is ephemeral. Anthropic processes the text according to their own privacy policy.
ShelfSeek uses your iPhone's camera for two features: scanning store shelves to find list items, and scanning receipts. All camera processing (text recognition, edge detection) happens on-device using Apple's Vision framework. Camera frames are never sent off your device.
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We receive a confirmation that you have an active entitlement but we never see your payment method, billing address, or Apple ID. You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
We want to be explicit about this: ShelfSeek has no account system, no cloud sync, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, device identifiers, or browsing behavior. The app does not require or offer sign-in.
Data on your device remains until you delete it manually or uninstall the app. Requests to our AI Smart Add backend are not logged and are processed ephemerally.
Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is typically nothing to request, correct, or delete on our end. Data on your device is yours to manage via the app's "Clear Shopping History" option in the Profile tab, or by uninstalling the app.
If you are a California or EU resident and believe you have additional rights under CCPA or GDPR that are not covered above, please reach out and we'll respond within 30 days.
ShelfSeek is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us.
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and note the change in a future app update. For material changes, we'll do our best to notify you in-app.

These terms govern your use of ShelfSeek ("the app"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. Please read carefully. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
ShelfSeek is a grocery shopping assistant for iOS. You may use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
ShelfSeek offers a free tier with limited access to some features, and optional premium subscriptions for unlimited access:
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can cancel any time through your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or through the "Manage Subscription" option in the app's Profile tab. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — no refunds for partial months.
Subscription prices may change. If prices change, you'll be notified through Apple and given the opportunity to cancel before the new price applies.
The Lifetime option is a one-time, non-subscription purchase. It grants access to all premium features for as long as the app is maintained and available on the App Store. "Lifetime" refers to the lifetime of the product, not yours. We intend to maintain the app indefinitely but make no guarantee of perpetual service.
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests should be made directly to Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't process refunds ourselves — we never see your payment.
AI Smart Add is a convenience feature powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Results are best-effort — the AI may occasionally misinterpret text, miss items, or produce unexpected results. Always review the generated list before shopping. We are not responsible for items missed, duplicated, or incorrectly categorized.
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, you're also bound by Apple's standard End User License Agreement. You can view Apple's terms at this link.
ShelfSeek is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Shelf scanning and text recognition depend on lighting, camera quality, product labeling, and other factors outside our control — results will vary.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of your use of the app, including but not limited to missed items, incorrect prices, spoiled pantry items, or altered shopping experiences. Your total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months.
You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or misuse the service. Subscriptions that you've paid for will continue until the end of their billing period unless cancelled for cause.
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the app or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
